well, i hope everyone had a great festive season. we are back in France, after a couple of weeks in uk, catching up with friends and family. cant believe how long its been since last post, too busy. Special Thanks to Ryan and Sam for assuming responsibility and dealing with all the breakouts by the goats into the garden without telling me!!! great blokes. recommend them both! ryan fell in love with a goat and is planning to run away to the bahamas with her - one of the goats is now named Paris...
the children ate too much chocolate and the science museum was a big hit - as were chislehurst caves and Horniman's museum. thanks to annalisa and nathaniel for a lovely evening too.
Back at the farm, we lost a goat that caught her head in a feeder, so everyone is a bit upset. others are about to give birth, looking heavy and starting to become more frantic and head-butting each other. (thats the goats, not the sheep so much) although they do become more desperate when the weather is cold and there is no green grass growing. so as the rain pours and the hailstones rap on the windows the sheep and goats are on hay - no walking them every day. cost loads though. prefer to walk them! or have them walked rather! the chickens and ducks start to look forlorn - we have bought the pond-liner though, so hopefully they will have a covered pond area - passing the new strictures in place due to bird flu - a payment for the terrible treatment of chicken by modern, civilised society. see the river cottage campaign for local actions in the uk and suppliers of good eggs.
