Permaculture Course

After a long silence, where the garden and Ivor have taken all my attention. tonight I am 'baby' sitting Fabien (9) Moses (12) and Reuvan (15) all of whom are playing rugby tomorrow, a whole day of tournement, at the end of which they will be given a medal (all of the young players) and a trophy for the older players. Last time I went there were over a thousand players. It could be sunny tomorrow too. The garden has taken off, leaves unfurling, buds exploding, the bees and other flying buzzing insects are wallowing in the pollen, I see them, heavy with the yellow powder, struggling back to their homes.
We are taking advice at the moment on how to landscape the garden. This is a big moment, with major decisions to be made, as the where the toilets will be, the ducks, the camping areas, the water features, the drainage... so we are lucky enough to have Andy and Jessie Darlington suggest a course on our land. Our garden is like a clean slate, there is little that we want to keep, so we could revamp the land completely, terracing it for water retention, camping and picnic areas.

What is permaculture? well, it is exactly as you may have realised, a permanent agriculture, encouraging in our case the local ecosystem to provide our family with food, water, shelter and air. perfect. more as soon as I can...

here are some photos..

what a cool idea to plant herbs etc in the railings around your eating area! but how do you keep it drained? mesh on the bottom? i like the innovation and how exciting that you will be re-designing the garden with Andy & Jesse's help! i wish Wish WISH i could be there this summer to help out! i crave the Aude in summertime :)
